Yesterday we were pretty lazy. We barely left eliot's place. I got up at 11 and did laundry. Eliot and nick slept well into the afternoon. They did get up in time to see the ball drop in times sq.
i liked when the guy on cnn said "it is now officially 2008", as if it wasn't already 2008 in 18 other time zones. It was pretty surreal watching the festivities live in the afternoon. "look how cold everyone is."
we got a bit of a late start today but now we're on the road. Eliot drove us to the rental car place on the outskirts of town. It was the only place in sydney that would let me rent a car one way to alice springs for less than $700 (our rate is $452). Nick is getting used to driving on the wrong side of the road.
we've got a hyundai elantra with 33,010 miles on it. It's got two power outlets and an aux jack for the stereo! We've got ilteris' gps logger going and my n95 was able to gps lock.
